I photographed a lit bit of everything this week, which makes for a fun week. As usual I got calls for headshots that were needed right away. I usually can squeeze a session in same day if the client is flexible on time.
Several boudoir photography clients came in to create that special gift for the man in their lives. One was a bride to be who wanted a bridal boudoir session to create a grooms gift. Another was celebrating an anniversary. And one was just about to turn 40 and wanted to get the photos done to celebrate. It made for an amazing week.
Maternity photographs were also in high demand this week. One of the lucky moms was going to have twins. I’m looking forward to her return for her newborn photo session.
A new model came in to get some new photos for her portfolio. She was just a beginner but was great fun to work with.

Most high end photography today is retouched. The amount of retouching I do really depends on the type of photograph. For example an actor’s headshot will get a retouch which just does a basic clean-up. An actor needs to look like their headshot when they come to the casting.
Now for family and senior portraits the retouching can be a little bit heavier. Some extra polish on the skin, removal of scars and softening of lines.
Of course the most retouching can be done for boudoir photos. These photos are about fantasy and glamour. So super smooth skin and even sometimes some digital plastic surgery all in line with creating that final look.
Great retouching makes the difference between a snapshot and a photograph. Today retouching is done in Photoshop. In the past it was done in the dark room. Hollywood had teams of retouchers that would hand alter negatives of the stars to create the famous glamour photos.

So many fun shoots this week I thought I would share two of them. The first was a photo shoot with model Oksana who need commercial photographs for her modeling agency. We shot a wide variety of sets both in the studio and on location. Here are a few of shots created for her modeling portfolio.
Another great shoot was a boudoir photography session in an amazing hotel. The idea was to create sexy photographs that appeared as if the light was streaming in thru the window. With a few photographic and lighting tricks, this image was created and she agreed to let it be shown in the blog.
It is going to get busy when the holidays arrive, so book early and save.

This week my big news is I have another cover on the newsstands. I photographed Elle in a very sexy and intimate set of photographs for College Gentleman magazine. The shoot was all about glamour and teasing, never showing too much. Have to leave something to the imagination.
Elle didn’t even complain when we ran out of hot water – LOL. What a trooper she was.
This week I also taught several photography classes. I enjoy working with other photographers to help them get better at the art.

I just realized that it’s already July. Where has the time gone? I know my time has gone into creating some amazing photographs for my clients. One of the shoots I had some fun with was creating some glamour images for a young model name Lizzie.
She is just starting out as a model and wanted to try a few things out to see what styles of photography she liked.
I liked the wind in her hair on this photograph.
Another future mom chose me has her photographer for her maternity photo book. She was 8 months along and looked great. Pregnancy so often can bring a special something to a woman that just needs to be captured in a photograph. She brought her husband to the shoot and we got some great couples shots for their book.
A few people came in for headshots for their business cards and websites. Clients like to see who they are dealing with. It provides a feeling of trust since.
Hopefully the heat will be gone soon, but I know it will be at least 6 more weeks. We did get a bit of rain this week which was nice.

This past week I spent most of my time shooting 3 magazine spreads. Fabulous models in sexy lingerie in a boudoir photography style. I will be able to show the photos one it goes to press.
A model came in to add some shots to her modeling portfolio and we decided it might be fun to use the guitar she brought along to do a CD cover mock-up. I shot a wide variety of looks and this was one of her favorites.
When working with models on their portfolios, it is always fun to do some theme based shots like you might find in an editorial shoot.
Next week won’t be as hectic, but I know it will be fun.

Busy week this week. Had fun maternity photography session, some headshots and couple of amazing boudoir photography sessions.
One of my favorite shoots this week was one with a young model named Jillian. She wanted some photographs to start her portfolio. She was very interested in creating a fashion look. Working with young models is always fun as you never know how they will be in front of the camera.
Some are shy and others are just bouncing off the wall with energy. Either way, my job as a photographer is to bring their personality out in the photographs and also push them in new directions to create a diverse modeling portfolio.
We shot both in studio and on location. We had to get an early start as summer is here and we don’t want to be outside much. Jillian was a trooper and we got some great outdoor shots. We then moved to the cool studio for the remainder of her shoot. Music and AC make for a fun shoot.
Later this week I am doing a shoot for Flashes of Hope, a great organization. Check back as you will want to read about this shoot.

Variety is the spice of life so the say and it sure helps keep the creative eye working in photography. I love it when I have to change up my thinking from one shoot to the next. This week, this lucky photographer shot maternity, headshots, boudoir, pin-up, products and even automotive.
Frequently I will have clients come in and wish to combine to photographic needs. Often I will have a boudoir client who also needs to have a headshot done. Boudoir is often also combined with modeling.
By combining a clients needs in to a single photography session, I can give my clients some great value.
Of course one of my favorite parts of my job is when a photographer is needed to shoot an amazing car like this Ferrari Testarossa. This car was on-site for a fashion photography class that was being held at my studio and I took a few minutes to grab photographs of this beauty.
Next week is already jammed packed with a great variety. I can’t wait to see what else is on the horizon.

Have some fine art nude photographs showing in a local photography gallery starting this Friday. I always enjoy these type of events as I get to see a wide variety of work from other photographers.
I also did some automotive photography this week, which I really enjoy. This AMX’s color just popped in the studio.
Good news is next week has a full schedule too. So I should have some fun images to show from those shoots too.
